There are those times in our Christian walk when we need a “hug from Heaven.” These are those scenarios when only one set of footprints are in the sand. May you be encouraged as you read this article on being in the Valley of discouragement.
Being a Grandma, I was blessed by this article. The Author penned many attributes of a Godly Grandmother that caused me to examine the spiritual heritage that my life will leave to my Grandchildren. May you who are Grandparents be likewise blessed!
About a year ago, the Lord opened the door for a new ministry in my life. Actually, it began as a hobby of sorts but has since evolved into a full time ministry. Writing has always been a love of mine and when I began blogging I needed a competent editor so I turned to the Lord. The Holy Spirit has been most gracious is laying upon my heart not only the subject matter of my article, but also the words to pen, (type) It was and is my desire that what is posted from my site will not only be Christ-honoring but also be encouraging and edifying to my readers. Little did I know that God was about to open the floodgates, so to speak!
Within the past month I was contacted by a sister-in-the-Lord, who managed another blog that essentially had the same ministry as mine. She had visited my blog, read my articles and was pleased with the content. She then asked me to prayerfully consider becoming a contributor to her blog. I visited the site, Christian Blessings, and was overwhelmed by the number of other contributors to her site from all over the world. Her outreach extended into over 120 countries. At this time there are 324 bloggers that follow her postings with an average of over 500 visits a day. Yesterday, the total was over 1000 visits. Whoa, was I ever impressed!
The Lord made it clear that He did indeed open this door and that he would carry me through. This week my second posting will be published on this site. Since my first posting last week, I have gained 9 new followers to my own site. My prayer continues to plead with God that folks will not only be drawn closer to the Lord in their Christian walk but also those who may not know my Savior would have their eyes opened to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
With a commitment to writing for two blogs, my plate seemed full. Not so, saith my Lord, I have another door for us to walk through. Last night at church, my Assistant Pastor approached me about assuming the responsibility of managing the web site for Christians for Constitutional Awareness. The purpose of this site is to monitor activity at the State and National government level in the light of God’s Word and the Constitution. I am absolutely thrilled at this new ministry. My prayer is that once again, the Lord will use me in furthering his Word and his righteousness among the readers.
How appropriate is my life’s verse: It is God that worketh in me both to will and to do of his own good pleasure. I covet your prayers as I continue in the ministries that the Lord has given me and that he will bless my efforts as I assume the new ministry with CCA.
Thank you, Diann
This was my first posting on Christian Blessings. Although it is sort of a testimonial, it is also an admonition to use the talents that the Lord has given us for His glory and honor.
Totally unexpected; how many times has this expression been used in reference to the sudden death of a family member or friend. Such is the case of Phyllis, a Christian, Mother, friend and neighbor. The personal sadness incurred with her passing cannot compete with the overwhelming joy of knowing that ‘we’ will see her again. In the meantime, the memories of our life with her will bring us joy, laughter and comfort. She was a good friend, a true sister-in-the-Lord.
Phyllis left behind her beloved companions “Sparky” and “Cali”. Her pets brought her great pleasure and happiness. We would sit and laugh at the antics of Cali, the cat, attacking Sparky, her beautiful playful dog. Most everyday, when the weather was appropriate, Phyllis would take Sparky out to play ball. I would sometimes open the window and talk to ‘Sparky’ watching him wag his tail gleefully at the sound of my voice. She shared her beloved pets with the rest of the ‘Four Musketeers’ and we a grateful for the memories. Sadly, not all of her neighbors appreciated Sparky and Cali, and their unkind words troubled Phyllis, piercing her heart.
In addition to her pets, Phyllis had a love for the out-of-doors and God’s Creation. During the summer months she could be seen outside tending to the flowers and landscaping around the apartment complex. She single-handedly cleared all the overgrowth, weeds and trash and made it a most appealing sight to gaze upon. This was one example of her penchant for serving others.
Thelma, our 92-year-old resident ‘granny’ was blessed by the caring attentiveness of her friend, Phyllis. On many, many occasions, Phyllis would chauffeur Thelma to the Doctor, the grocery or even just out to eat. There was not a day that went by the she did not check in on her elderly friend. We were quite often convicted by the compassion and consideration which Phyllis exhibited in her life. You see, Phyllis did not do these things to make herself look good, or for monetary gain, she did them because it was the right thing to do.
You see, Phyllis was not an ordinary lady. She was a blood bought born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Of her own admission, there was a time in her life that she realized that she was a sinner on her way to hell. She believed that the Bible, the inspired, infallible Word of God stated in Romans 3:23 ‘That all had sinned and come short of the glory of God.’ Furthermore she accepted the truth of Romans 6:23 ‘That the wages of sin is death (spiritual separation from God) but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. At that particular moment, Phyllis called upon Jesus to forgive her sins and to save her; and she was gloriously and wonderfully saved. She knew that when she died that she would go to heaven to be with Jesus, and there, my friend is where she is this very moment.
God began a new work in her, and Phyllis willingly sought to serve the Lord. She was faithful in reading her Bible, praying and attending her church. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing Jesus with the other members of the Four Musketeers, Nancy, Deb, and Diann; her Sisters-in-the-Lord. What great times of fellowship we had studying God’s Word together. These memories will last for eternity.
You see, my friend, we will see Phyllis again! Whether is be by death or by rapture, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that when we die, we will spend eternity in heaven. This is not because we have lived such a sinless life or have performed an enormous amount of good deeds; it is because we, like Phyllis, realized that we were sinners on our way to hell; that Jesus shed his innocent blood on the Cross of Calvary, and that he died to give us the gift of eternal life. We cannot work our way to heaven by going to church, giving money to the poor or any other human attempt at achieving a home in heaven. It can only come by believing on the name of the Lord Jesus. Romans 10:13 Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved; because John 3:16 For God so loved the World that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. We will see Phyllis again, Will you?

A convicting testimony of two Senior Saints who knew the power of intercessory prayer.
Who on earth is Norma McCorvey. I am so glad that you asked, Barack, although I must admit that I did not know who she was until today. The internet provides us with a plethora of meaningful information and I just became aware of the former and current life of this most controversial lady. Perhaps her name should become one of those ‘household’ names, once again, as it was in the past.
Norma became a nation wide media buster in the early 1970’s, but like you, Sir, it was not in a positive way. In those days as she relates, she could out-cuss and out drink, many of the tavern regulars as cigarette smoke barreled out of her mouth and nose. She used her explosive tongue to slash and burn those who disagreed with her. She was indeed a ‘mean mama’ and her temper could be ignited with very little provocation. Through a set of circumstances in her life she became the puppet, like you, of a sinister organization, which spewed godlessness and murder upon millions of innocent human beings.
Enjoying her new found notoriety, Norma found herself employed by this sinister organization in fostering their wicked agenda. She states, Mr. Obama, that her new found mission in life was the only thing she lived for, it seem to consume her entire being. However, because of her caustic personality, the hierarchy of her organization soon relegated her to a less visible role. Still no clue as to who this lady is? Just keep reading……………………
The organization for which Norma worked was located in the dip of a ‘u’ shaped cul-de-sac. This was strategically chosen to place the business several hundred yards from the public walkway, away from the legally gathering site of protesters. Yes, protesters! By the providence of God, another business also relocated in the same business park. The goals of these two enterprises were on the opposite side of the coin. They were sworn enemies and often heated arguments would evolve between the respective employees. Police sirens and flashing lights were not an unusal occurrences several times a day because of the bitter clashes in the parking lot. However, on occasion, the clashes would evolve into friendly conversation.. This is how Norms became friends with Flip!
Flip often carried his Bible under his arm as he exchanged words with Norma and her colleagues. He confessed to being a great big sinner, saved by a great big God. Norma never considered him a sinner and soon became an avid listener of the stories of his past. Other of Flips associates also began witnessing when the doors seem to be open and in return she shared her beliefs; sort of a Elijah and Baal confrontation. Each was content to let the ‘true God win’. and He did!
The Lord allowed another friendship to develop with a young girl by the name of Emily. You, see, Barack, God was allowing these friendships in Norma’s life to bring her to the saving knowledge of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. God also loves you enough to do the same. Has he? The unlikely relationship that developed between these two individuals is a heartwarming editorial of what God can do in the life of a sinner. Emily’s parents had the wisdom to note that the Lord was using their daughter to being Norma to himself. I would really like to go into detail about the relationship that God fostered between these two but for time sake I will invite you to look up the story on the internet. Through the witness and friendship of Flip and Emily, the Lord took the circumstances in Normas’ life and opened her eyes that the god of this world had blinded (Satan) and Norma confessed her heinous sin and ask God to forgive her and accepted the blood bought salvation of His Son the Lord Jesus Christ.
Barack. even though your actions indicate that you are as wicked as Norma was, the fact is that God so loved ‘you’ that He sent his only begotten Son into the World, to die on the Cross of Calvary, shedding his blood for your sins. John 3:16, is the very same verse that God not only used to bring Norma to salvation, but also myself. In the Book of Romans 10:13, God states that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved……………….even Barak Hussein Obama.
Oh, I almost forgot………………..Norma? You will recognize her by her pseudonym “Jane Roe” Since the 1990’s Norma has been working to undo the atrocities of Roe v Wade. God has forgiven her for the millions of babies that she was instrumental in advocating their abortion. She is one of those ‘tainted’ Christians, like the Apostle Paul and Bathsheba, who although committed atrocious sins, are and were used for God for His glory. This can be your testimony also, Barack. May God have mercy on your soul.
