It will not be too much longer and I will be going home. This will be an event of which there are mixed emotions. Yes, I really do want to go home, but there are those who I will be leaving behind and that saddens the core of my heart.
There is much I need to do in preparation for the trip home. Fortunately I will not need to do any packing. Everything I will need is already there. My mansion is almost finished and the welcoming committee has been put on alert. The most important thing I need to do is to tell my family, friends and acquaintances that I will be leaving soon and encourage them to want to join me.
Another issue that I need to attend to is making sure that I am absolutely ready to go at any given moment. My home going may be sort of a spontaneous, like an impelling force. Or it may be that I will be given a few days advanced notice. Whichever the case, making sure that I am clean, inside and out will be an ongoing priority. My life cannot become a ‘couch potato’ event, but rather I must continue in the things I have been instructed to do until the day I am called to go home.
Does this all sound mysterious? Confusing? Am I a nut case? No, my friend, you see, my home is not in this world! I am heaven bound. Let me explain what I am writing about!
In the beginning God created all things, including man. Man sinned by disobeying the only commandment that God gave him. This resulted in man being dead, spiritually separated from God. God therefore needed to provide a way to reconcile man to himself so he sent his only begotten Son, The Lord Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, to shed his precious blood on the Cross of Calvary that He might become sin for us and conquer spiritual death. fantastic, you say? Yes, however, this was not a universal blanket salvation for all who would ever live upon this earth. You see, God was so thoughtful that he gave man a choice. We can either accept his gift of salvation or reject the only Way to spend eternity with God.
In the Book of Romans God reminds us that all of us have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. This fact was explained in Romans 5:12 were we learn that by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world and death by sin (spiritual death), and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. Romans 5:8 is such an encouragement in that God commandeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us! Exciting, isn’t it? Now remember, this is not a carte blanc event in that God has chosen to give man a choice as to whether or not he wants reconciled to God.
How does one become reconciled to God. Well, Nicodemus asked the very same question as read in John 3:3-8. Being born again simply means that you agree with John 3:16, 17 in that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. It is not enough just to believe in God because the devils believe in God also and tremble! In Romans 10:13 we are told that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Being reconciled is so simple. Once we confess our sin; ask Jesus to forgive us our sin and allow the Holy Spirit to dwell within our hearts, the Bible confirms that we are saved.
Sadly, there are those who believe that they do not sin. The Bible states that if we say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us…….we make God a liar and His Word is not in us. These same folk think that they can work their way to heaven, not so! We are saved by grace through faith, not of our works lest any man should boast. Jesus Christ alone is the only way to be reconciled to God, the Father.
On the flip side we find folk who think that they are too wicked to be saved. Rest assured, God is willing to save even the vilest of sinners who come unto him in repentance. He saved the Apostle Paul who fervently murdered Christians. By his testimony, God saved M. M. Ohara’s son. Rest assured, when we are called to heaven we are going to see Saints who once practiced harlotry, homosexuality, abortions, murders and all manner of abominable sins. God has promised to remove our transgression from us as far as the east is from the west. And what is even more awesome, He will remember them no more!
Once we are saved we can be confident that God who hath begun a good work in us will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. We are told that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away; behold all things become new. This helps us know that we belong to God not only because the Holy Spirit beareth witness with out spirit that we are the children of God, but also because we love the brethren. We love to be around God’s people. The Lord has spelled out in 1 John 5:10-13 that we can enjoy the assurance that we are saved.
When a person accepts Christ as their Saviour, they are considered a Babe-in-Christ. The Bible, the Word of God is the nutrition one needs in order to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus. Many believe that the Book of the Gospel of John is a good place for newly born again Believers to use as their initial spiritual food. God also commands that we are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together and therefore it is of utmost importance to find a fundamental Bible believing Church in which to worship and serve God. God delights in answering the prayers of new Christians and He will direct you to the church where He wants you to attend. Through the preaching of God’s word a new Christian will begin to grow until one day their spiritual diet can be upgraded to solid spiritual food and then onto the meatier portions of scripture.
As we anticipate our individual home-goings it is important to keep growing in the Lord, serving Him as he leads, and share the Gospel with friends and loved ones. Be forewarned. Satan will not be happy that he lost a follower and he will, like a roaring lion set out to make you a defeated Christian. Just remember that He that is in you is greater that he that is in the world. Satan has been defeated, he is well aware of his ultimate end; never tire of reminding him of his doom! Keep your eyes on Jesus, set your affections on things that are a bove and not on this world. Seek ye first the Kingdom and God and his righteousness and all of these things will be added unto you……………………………………..I trust that I will see you in Heaven, My eternal Home!
