The Promise of the Rainbow

Recently in my neck of the woods people have been mesmerised by the number awesome displays of rainbows gracing the heavens.  On one special evening members of my church were blessed to see a double rainbow just prior to the evening service. Many of these heavenly phenomena in th9MMW9HF7 dbl rainbow IIaddition to having a twin, display their heavenly colors in triple, leaving the viewer breathless.  thZ6GQ0RB2 tripple rainbowSome rainbows have been presented in an almost circle.  Although one will not find an actual pot of gold at the rainbows end, the treasures awaiting one can only be appreciated by a redeemed saint of God.

Ever since the Flood the rainbow has been a symbol of Promise.  A promise from God to Noah that He would never bring judgment upon the earth in the form of a catastrophic flood.

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. Genesis 9: 13-16

This was not the first promise in the Bible (Genesis 3:16); however it was definitely not the last. Among the most memorable of these promises is the promise to the Nation of Israel.

And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.  Genesis 12:3

The one promise of life changing significance is Romans 10:13.  Should this promise be ignored it will have devastating eternal results.  Coupled with many other verses relative to the subject God presents His plan of Salvation to a sin cursed world.  Beginning with John 3:16 and including the Romans Road to redemption, the Lord has given us the way that we can be reconciled to God because of the sin of disobedience by Adam.  Along with the Gospel is the warning that:

“I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2

Throughout Scripture the Lord has established His promises with mankind.  It is indeed a ‘rainbow moment’ when we choose to believe that He sent His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to be born of a Virgin that He might die on the Cross of Calvary for our sins.  Once a sinner accepts by faith th Gospel of Salvation then all of the other promises become real and meaningful.  May you and your loved ones and friends realize that it is not the Will of God that any man should perish, but that all come to repentance.  Today can be the day of your Salvation
