The Fate of Hamas

_76356166_30d7cfb1-cf96-42c8-9fdb-eec686425377 HamasHAMAS –Hamas”, Arabic acronym for Islamic Resistance Movement is a word that is familiar to people who keep up on the news about current events in Israel.  Of all the anti-Israel Muslim terrorist organizations, Hamas is one of the most violent. The Hebrew word hamas, in fact, means violence.  Many times the word hamas appears in the Hebrew Bible, and what the Bible says about the fate of those who carry out hamas/violence against the people of Israel.   Reading through The Twelve Prophets (Hosea through Malachi) in Hebrew, it is surprising how may times the word hamas is mentioned.(68 times)   According to the Bible, those who practice hamas/violence against the children of Israel will bring the fierce wrath of God down upon themselves.

The first place the word hamas appears in the Bible is in Genesis 6: 11,13.  The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence (hamas) … And God said unto Noah, “The end of all flesh is come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence (hamas) through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”

Here in the early chapters of the very first book of the Bible, God makes it clear that the fate of those who practice hamas is destruction. It was hamas that brought the Flood of God’s judgment upon the earth. Right now Israel is fighting with Hamas.  Ironically if may well be that God is using Hamas to bring Israel to the understanding that their Messiah has indeed come.

The word hamas also appears in the Psalms. Prayers are lifted up for deliverance from violent men, men of hamas. The enemies of God’s anointed are described in Psalms as people who breathe out hamas [cruelty] Psalm 27:12.   The habitations of hamas are called the dark places of the earth Psalm 74:20.  Psalm 11:5 plainly states that God hates those who love hamas: …the wicked and him that loveth violence (hamas) His soul hateth.

Two passages of Scripture that should serve as warnings to Hamas terrorists are Obadiah 10 and Joel 3:19. These verses deal specifically with the hamas/violence perpetrated by Edom, another name for Esau, the ancestor of the Arabs, who are still the enemies of the Jewish people. According to Obadiah, the children of Edom shall be cut off forever because of their violence (hamas) against Israel.

Eventually Israel’s prayers for deliverance from hamas will be answered. Isaiah s description of the Messianic Kingdom includes this promise: Violence (hamas) shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders;  So fierce is the wrath of God against the descendants of Esau who practice hamas that one of the commandments of the Torah says, “Thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek [grandson of Esau, and another ancestor of the Arabs] from under heaven” Deuteronomy 25:19

Hamas-Logo-640x700Hamas was established in 1987, and has its origins in the Muslim Brotherhood  movement, and has been active in the Gaza Strip since the 1950’s  During the 1990s and early 2000s, the organization conducted numerous suicide bombings and other attacks against Israel.  The immediate trigger for the current escalation  of violence was the kidnapping of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank on 12 June 2014. The Israeli government accused Hamas, arrested over 200 Hamas members in the West Bank and closed down organizations affiliated with Hamas.  It is a core belief of Hamas that the killing of Jews is any Muslim’s religious duty and prerequisite to redemption. When one understands the foundation of Hamas’ ideology one can understand the reasons for the ongoing terror against Israel’s innocent civilian

Hamas believes that the supremacy of Islam obligates it to literally exterminate millions of people who hold different beliefs than Islam, foremost the Jews.  Regarding the Jews, they  believe that their only business with them is bombs and guns[…]” (Nizar Rayan,), December 31st, 2008)  In an article in Al-Rissala, Hamas’ official newspaper, Hamas promotes the extermination of the Jews by use of suicide terror against Israel for the good of the world:

“We find more than one condemnation and denunciation of the resistance operations and bombings, carried out by Hamas and the Palestinian resistance branches… [Eventually] everyone will know that we did this only because our Lord commanded so: ‘I did it not of my own accord’ [Quran] and so that people will know that the extermination of Jews is good for the inhabitants of the worlds.” (April 23rd, 2007)

Sheikh Yunus Al-Astal, a Hamas member of parliament , wrote the following article in the issue of March 13th, 2008. Headline:

“Suffering by Fire is Jews’ destiny in this world and next… you will taste the punishment of Scorching Fire.” [Quran 3:181]“This [Quran] verse threatens the Jews with the punishment of Fire… the reason for the punishment of Fire is it is fitting retribution for what they have done… but the urgent question is, is it possible that they will have the punishment of Fire in this world, before the great punishment [of Fire in Hell] … many of the [Islamic] religious leaders believe that the [Jews’] punishment of Fire is in this world, before the next world… therefore we are sure that the Holocaust is still to come upon the Jews.”

The destruction that the Hamas is thrusting upon Israel will more than likely pale in consideration of them being in the hands of an angry God.   As the advent of Daniel’s 70th week approaches, we may well be privy to many more prophetic fulfillment.  God will Bless those who Bless Israel, but woe to them who do not:   Psalm 11:5 plainly states that God hates those who love hamas!
